Yes. They have very good vegetarian menu too.
Yes.
I don't think it's halal. Not sure about zabiha. You should call and ask the owner, they're very nice.
My favorite Burmese restaurant ever! Delicious and very affordable! I am saying this even after I tried some famous highly rated Burmese in San Francisco! It is the only store open in this plaza. Don't be surprised and just walking in. The staff are soooo nice too!
People who have panned this place must have different expectations of the world than I do. And I wonder if they themselves cook. This place perfectly pleased and met our expectations. I went here for a working lunch and was greeted by the host and by flavors I've not experienced before. I avoided the Thai menu and tried something from the Myanmar section of the menu and something from the Burma section (That's a whole other story). Our waiter, the owner, was kind and attentive but quiet and deferential. I love a gregarious waiter or owner, but this man was gentle and kind. And the food was good.
I’ve been to SE Asia twice and I’m so glad to get authentic food here in Lansing. Moe, the owner, is very kind and the family knows my order by heart. #2, pork, spicy, with a Thai iced tea. The food is so good, I crave it! Can’t wait to go back!!!Jay-zoo-ba (thank you in Burmese)
This is probably the most authentic South East Asian food in town! Place looks sketchy from outside but when you enter it is very clean and well-maintained. Great food, friendly host, good location. Pro-tip: place can be packed and food prep can be slow, thus, come early or order by phone. Worth the wait
Wow!!! This is truly a hidden gem. Located in what looks like a abandoned strip mall. The service was great and timely, from a friendly staff that was always moving. The food was Great!!
One of the best restaurants in Lansing. Family owned, delicious food - highly recommend!
Love it. Great food, family run place. You will have to wait though.
My wife and I have been coming here fairly regularly since 2014 and try to convince everyone we know to check them out. Fantastic food, reasonably priced, comfortable & welcoming environment ran by the nicest people. It's not "fast" food, but even that has gotten faster the past few years with the same quality. Don't let the location scare you. Highly recommend!
Very good food. The strip mall might look sketchy but the food is worth it! The actual shop is very clean and the staff is so nice. Don't be surprised, though, if you go in and don't get served right away. There is only 3 people working there and only one person on the floor. It is worth the wait!
Every dish was unique and delicious. And wonderful service with a smile.
Firstly, this place is authentic and you can taste the fresh ingredients. You may wait a little but for your food, but freshly cooked food is top quality. The food is excellent, just the right amount of spice. You grab a menu and seat yourself and a server will come take your order. It's a welcoming environment. I would definitely recommend this place, you won't be disappointed!
This is my favorite restaurant in the area. It is a hole in the wall and you may want a bit for food but we'll worth it. My favourites are pad thai, papaya salad, and thai tea. I try to come here every time I'm in the area. Definitely a must go in Lansing!
The best food I've had in the Lansing area, easily! The pickled tea leaf salad is amazing. The prices are also extremely reasonable.
Great food but not nearly enough staff
Wonderful Thai and Burmese food at reasonable no frills cost
My son and I enjoyed this place very much. We received 2 menus, one with pictures of the dishes and one with descriptions and prices. My 8 year old son pick out the picture he wanted and I read him what was in the dish. I had Pho he had basil chicken, we split some spring rolls everything was tasty. The restaurant was clean and once the food started cooking the smells were amazing. Only 4 stars because the small accompaniments that came with our dish were not explained, and I didn't think to ask what they were and what I should do with them.
Honestly, some of the best Burmese food you can find anywhere. Period. I've since moved to New England and even in places like New York I haven't found a tea leaf salad quite as good as theirs. A real diamond in the rough.
Absolutely delicious food and haven’t had any cuisine quite like it anywhere else. Highly recommend you place an order for pick-up soon to support this family business!
I drive up to Lansing from Jackson just the this restaurant. Everything is full of flavor. And the owner and family/staff are always friendly and remember me. Larb salad and Thai Basil is amazing!
Get the pickled tea leaf salad!! Everything has always been delicious. Come early or give yourself a little more time at lunch - everything is made to order and it can get very busy between 11:30 and 1:00. The picture menu is helpful when you just want "what looks good!"
The dishes at Naing Myanmar are fresh, made from scratch, delicious, extremely affordable ($7-$10 for a literal mountain of food) and the service is so friendly it makes you feel like you're eating at home. I opted for the Pad Khing with Chicken, a Chinese/Thai rice dish with fresh mushrooms, peppers and onions and a soy/ginger sauce and it was the perfect combination of sweet and salty. For my drink, I ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee and it was easily one of the best I've had in the U.S. and gave me more energy than I was bargaining for.
Don't let the exterior scare you. This place is fantastic, with flavor profiles I've never tasted before. Excellent!
Always great food. Not always timely, but worth the wait.
I've eaten at Naing Myanmar Family Restaurant more than a dozen times over the past few years. Their food is delicious. If you are looking for ambiance, this is not your destination. But if you enjoy fresh, delicious, well prepared Burmese, Malaysian or Thai food seasoned to your taste, you might enjoy lunch or dinner get. When asked what my favorite restaurants in Lansing are, "Myanmar" is always in the list.
If there’s anything Lansing has that Chicago doesn’t it’s AMAZING Burmese food! I’ve been wishing for great Burmese food in the Midwest for years, and this place is it. I had the Burmese fried rice and vermicelli Burmese soup, and both were outstanding. Hot, fresh, flavorful — all you can ask for from an authentic family-owned restaurant. Ssooo good. Definitely coming back on my next visit to Lansing.
The food is out of this world. Too bad I don't go there as often as I'd love to.
I can't say much about the decoration, but the place's food is really good. The employees were friendly and the Burmese cuisine is very tasty and difficult to find elsewhere. The mohinga is my favorite item when it's available, but the the lahpet salad wasn't bad by any means either. It's a nice change of pace from the regular Thai or Vietnamese restaurants.
Best thai food i have ever had. Fast service. Big portions!
The hospitality, the service, the cleanliness all top notch. The food is good, very tasty, but the location leaves a lot to be desired. You get a large amount food for the cost. Certainly worth the price.
Don't sleep on this place or let the appearance deter you! Flavors were bold and savory. Papaya salad is a sweet tamarind sauce but not over powering, still good. Larb was very solid, recommend sticky rice with it. Beef Curry was great! Shan Noodles, dry, was amazing. Be sure to mix well otherwise you'll be missing out. I'll still thinking about the noodles. You may wait a bit but it's worth it and cut the waitress some slack! Will definitely be returning!
This place is awesome. Loved it! Will definitely go back. Don't judge it from the outside or location.
Hole in the wall sort of very casual place that is not decorated. Everything is very inexpensive and delicious.
Hands down our most favorite restaurant! The food is absolutely delicious and we feel like family when we visit! We can not say enough good things about this place. If you have yet yet tried it, we highly recommend you go. You are in for a treat!
Do not let the location or look keep you from coming here!! The food is amazing! They are super friendly!! And it is super clean!! I was actually surprised how clean it was. But I he food!! Omg, the food was to die for!!! Everything is made from scratch. We ordered the bottle gourds for an app, and we both had soup for lunch. The gourds we're delicious! They come with an amazing dipping sauce! The soup was in a huge bowl, we left full and even had enough to take home! I had the Kill a cold tea, it was very strong I mixed mine with water, but it was very good!! And did help me to feel better!! I was super hesitant to come here, but I am glad we did!! And we will definitely come again!!
First, this is the only restaurant I have ever felt comfortable in. We feel so welcome every time, which is sadly a rare these days. The owners are seriously so kind!Second, the food is delicious. My husband and I like to try something new and every time we visit. It is very hard not to order what we had previously because everything is so good! Especially the Friday and Saturday specials. Do not be put off by the location, because once you enter the restaurant and start eating it won’t matter.Note: this is not a quick eatery. Go, enjoy your time talking, and eating. This is a family run business, so extra care is taken with food. But rest assured it will be worth it!!
The mostly abandoned strip mall hides this gem. When i first came in there wasnt a table without asian guests, biased view, but promising to me. There are friday and saturday specials (only days for items) and one is the shan noodles. You can get it dry or as a soup and i got the soup. 2 bites in i thought i would come back. 4-5 bites in i knew it would next weekend. Awesome dish. Also got the larb salad and they adjusted the meat as described, well done with a good hint of mint. Great thai ice tea, definitely coming back. Also, i have serious food allergies (anaphylaxis) and they were responsive.
This definitely falls under the "don't judge a book by its cover" mantra. The inside is super clean, even though the outside is underwhelming. The place is always jumping with people, and understandably so--the food is incredible! The owners, who are serving, were super kind and helpful. When we began clearly ordering vegetarian meals, they clarified that egg was okay--something I will forever appreciate at a restaurant. There's no wrong choice here, either. We loved the fried bean paste appetizers, and the spicy fried noodles.
Delicious and plenty of vegan options! They don't have tap water so bring your own if you're don't want plastic
Naing Myanmar is a Lansing gem. The owners are Burmese, and the Burmese food is what shines. Try the pickled tea leaf salad or fried bottle gourds for a truly Burmese flavor. The Thai and Malay foods are also very good. Bring a friend or a good book - sometimes there is a wait, but the food is 150% worth it.
Family run restaurant with so much heart. The prices are criminally low. Make sure you tip well.
First time coming here. Its in an old strip mall and the first thing I noticed is that it's one of 2 stores open in the strip but most of the parking spots were filled by patrons of this restaurant. Pretty busy for a weekday lunch. Only had the fried egg noodles. It was really good. Seems it's run by a family, they're very nice from when you come in. It's a cozy dining area and very clean. Will definitely come back to try some of the other menu items.
Great authentic Asian food. A foodie find. You must try this place!
Small. Family-friendly. Reasonable, freshly prepared. Veggies well represented. Choice of meats. Southeastern Asian soda pops. Top notch. Endorsed by state legislature. Be back asap.
Absolutely worth the wait! As all of the previous posts mentioned, the outside appearance causes some reservation. However, the food is absolutely exquisite! Now the place is small and depending on when you go you might have to wait but once you get your food, you'll definitely appreciate the time it took to prepare. I will definitely return and will probably order ahead for pick up. Nonetheless, if you're in the area you have to pay them a visit!
This is a hidden gem. Tucked midway in what looks like an abandoned strip mall, down the way from the sleazy looking pot shop and flanked by dark and deserted retail space is a small island of light, warmth and incredible food. This small, family owned and run restaurant has Chinese, Thai and Burmese items on the menu, and all of them are great. The soups and hot pots in particular are authentic, inexpensive and fabulous. Don't be put off by the location or the surroundings, just go and inhale deliciousness.
Very delicious food. Very friendly and hard working family. The place looks a little run down on the outside but very nice and clean on the inside.
Small place with a variety of different cuisines to try. We ordered some spring rolls, samosas, some form of spicy chicken fried noodle, and through a miscommunication while ordering beef fried rice and garlic chicken with rice. Portions were large and reasonably priced (so I wasn't to upset about getting to entrees) everything came out piping hot. The garlic chicken was like nothing I've ever had before, if you like garlic it's a must try. Only thing preventing 5 star was the service was a bit poor, meaning it took a while to first get a waiter at our table, once all our food was brought out we didn't here from our waiter again. and then at the end of our meal we ended up grabbing our own to go boxes (though that may have just been the nature of the place)
Order was wrong and food was not quality. Fried gourds were soggy. Garlic chicken was not made with chicken. Portions also did not reflect price.
A humble, no-frills family-run restaurant with stellar food! Even when you order Pad Thai by takeout, they put effort into the presentation.I was first introduced to Thai food as a teen in NYC and the bar was set high for quality ingredients, flavor, and presentation. Since returning to Michigan 13 years ago, this is the first restaurant that comes close to what I was accustomed to back East. (The only dish l need and can rarely get locally is Sticky Rice!)
Everything was so so good!! Highly recommend this place for Thai food! Service was great too!
